In this eBriefing, J. Michael Walsh, Ph.D., President of The Walsh Group, PA, and former Executive Director of the President's Drug Advisory Council, provides a historical and political perspective of the evolution over the past two decades of Federally-regulated drug testing. The shift of major corporations from a philosophy of punitive measures to support for prevention/rehabilitation is discussed. Currently Dr. Walsh is the Principal Investigator for a 3-year study funded by the Division of Workplace Programs, Center for Substance Abuse Prevention. This study is a strategic partnership with a major technology manufacturing corporation.
