The Helpline does maintain samples or "model"
policies and will make them available upon request. However, they should be
used only as a guide to thinking about the various provisions that are
available in a comprehensive approach to addressing the problem of substance
abuse at your Workplace.
                                
They can also help you to think about what provisions
make the best sense for you and your employees. Relying too heavily on a sample
or "model" plan may result in one or more provisions that, over time, may prove
to be counterproductive. Before you implement any policy, it should be reviewed
by an employment law attorney to ensure compliance with any local, State, and
Federal requirements, especially those relating to drug testing.
